Wisdom Teeth Removal
X-ray assessment and gentle removal of wisdom teeth that are causing pain, swelling or infection.

About wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth (third molars) usually appear between about 17 and 25. When there isn't enough room for them to come through properly, they can cause pain, swelling and infection, and can damage neighbouring teeth.
We examine your mouth and take X-rays to see their position and any risks. If removal is recommended, we'll explain the procedure and the best approach for you.
Removal and recovery
Local anaesthetic or sedation keeps you comfortable while the teeth are gently removed. For multiple or complex wisdom teeth, ask whether treatment under general anaesthesia suits you.
Some swelling, discomfort and bleeding is normal afterwards. Rarely, complications such as infection, nerve injury or dry socket can occur — we'll monitor your recovery and tell you what to look out for.

Common questions
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. They only need removing if they're causing, or likely to cause, problems such as pain, infection, decay or damage to neighbouring teeth. X-rays help us decide.
What is dry socket?
Dry socket happens when the blood clot in the socket is dislodged or dissolves before the area has healed. It's uncommon, and following your aftercare instructions — including not smoking — reduces the risk.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
